Homeless code in the City

May 19th 2009

Make your mark!
The Pavement is working with a young urban designer on the diagram opposite - a system of markings that people can use to advise and warn their fellow homeless about aspects of life on the street. This group of markings, devised by Emily Read, will soon be published in several areas, to allow readers to rate services, warn others of danger and pass simple messages on. It is based on earlier symbols used both sides of the Atlantic by those on the streets. A full report will appear in next issue.
