Homeless man flies home

March 13th 2014

A young woman from London has raised thousands of pounds to fly a homeless back to his native Jamaica, after launching a crowd-funding appeal on a social media site. The man, called Michael, met Jenny Baker in Dalston, East London, and told her he was desperate to return home.

Writing on her Go Fund Me fundraising page she said: ‘We got chatting... he didn’t want money or booze... so I went and got him a ginger beer and a sandwich.

“He told me that he is 64 and came over to England with his mum for a better life. Unfortunately, his mother passed away and he found himself homeless with no funds.

“He told me that all he wants more than anything in the world is to go back to Jamaica where he says he will be fine and happy again.”

Extra money raised by the fund is to be gifted to Michael to help him resettle.
