Charities unite to pressure Australian politicians

July 27th 2016

A group of six charities has written a joint letter to the heads of Australia’s political parties urging them to tackle homelessness.

There are currently over 100,000 homeless people on any given night in Australia, and this number is growing.

As the 2016 federal election approaches, the letter encourages all political parties to commit to halving homelessness by 2026.

The proposed plan, according to, aims for all parties to agree to lower homelessness targets and more affordable housing so that whatever party forms government in July has to stay true to their promise.
