More families forced from city

September 09 2015
Numbers being relocated jump by more than a quarter in one year

The number of homeless families forced out of London by councils is continuing to rise.

Inside Housing found that the number of families rehoused outside of the capital rose 27 percent in 2014–15, compared to the previous year.

Others were placed in cheaper areas within the city.

East London boroughs saw a 65 per cent jump in the number of homeless families arriving in two years.

The figures come after government figures revealed the number of families forced into emergency temporary accommodation jumped 35 per cent in one year.
