A culture of dependence?

Housing Justice and Unleash are holding an event to discuss the provision of food and clothing by church groups Housing Justice and Unleash are holding an 'Open Space event' called "Hand out or hand up?" on Thursday 19th July. The event, to be held at St Paul's, Robert Adam St, London W1U 3HW, will people attending to discuss whether the provision of food and clothing by some church groups has a negative affect on the recipients. The flyer for the event says: "Voluntary church and faith groups are good at giving essential help like food and clothes to people who are homeless and excluded. Some believe that this kind of help creates dependence." They're asking for a broad range of people to answer this, from rough sleepers, to medical professionals and outreach workers.
