Tory leader suggests homeless ‘au pairs‘ for elderly households David Cameron has called for the elderly to open their homes to families without permanent residence to combat the isolation of older people. Speaking at Age Concern in east London, Mr Cameron said this was one solution to removing barriers between generations and 'airbrushing' isolated elderly members back into society. He recommended that in return for accommodation, the guests could carry out household chores. "It's a perfect example of social responsibility, of the generations coming together," Mr Cameron added.
