New Simon Community street caf?© venue

May 21 2009
The St Giles-in-the-Field cafe‘s mix of food and advice is a roaring success The Simon Community have had such a success with their street caf?¬© at St Giles-in-the-Field, near Denmark Street, that they've begun running it on an additional day. In the few months since it's been running, the Saturday street cafe at St Giles-in-the-Fields has been a great success, replicating the popularity of the original still running on the Strand (at St Mary-le-Strand). So much so, in fact, that, after discussions with the rector of St Giles, the Venerable William Jacob, they are now running it on Sundays as well. The service began on 27th April at St Giles-in-the-Fields Church, 60 St Giles High Street. Philip Burke, of the Simon Community, said he was pleased that the church authorities have given them the go ahead to extend the service. He told The Pavement: "Bill Jacobs [rector] and the parish council have been very supportive. Although we are limited in what we can do for people, we do provide advice as well as food."
