Two dreams

December 01 2023

A timely poem with a simple, powerful message sits alongside a mysterious encounter. Words by Chris Bird and John Sheehy

Peace
by Chris Bird

The anger must pass,
Humanity must last,
Revenge leads to doom,
Sadness and gloom.
Let's rebuild trust,
It's surely a must,
In the rubble and stone,
A white flower stands alone.
Forgiveness and love,
Falls from above,
Jew, Christian, Sikh, Hindu and Muslim,
Are part of one whole,
So let peace grow.

Dreams
by John Sheehy

Dreaming dreams, take reality's strategy, disruptions,
Concurrent dreams keeping calling into the sleep
When not asleep they keep on coming, I seen a jackdaw
Dreaming, he was sleeping on a branch of a tree
Someone happened to come by at that moment of time
He said that someone had slit his tongue, otherwise
He would not be able to speak like a human being, he said
He could be dreaming, he said, if you have time
He will sing a song about dreams and lullabies, melodious
This jackdaw will put you into a dream world, watch
Yourself, you may not come out of his spells, he has done it
To other people, they won't come out, they’re stuck inside
The lullaby, melody's song has stolen their dream.
