Temporary homes for 24 families to spring up in Lewisham

The South London Borough of Lewisham is to start welcoming the first residents of its new ‘pop-up village’ in June. The container-like units will house 24 homeless families, and there’ll also be space for “community and enterprise use”. But what pops up must come down, and the units are only due to stay on the Ladywell site for a maximum of four years before being relocated elsewhere in the borough. Then the site will be used for a mix of retail and housing. Future consultations with local residents are promised.
