Details on an exhibition taking place in October that brings together art, fashion and sound from the margins. Words by Alesh Compton

Full Circle takes over the House of Annetta this October for a collision of DIY fashion, visual art, photography, moving image, music and performance. The exhibition features works created by community members of The People’s Recovery Project, a charity that tackles homelessness and addiction.

Developed through a series of open, collaborative sessions, the exhibition brings together work by a group of artists whose practices resist categories. Handmade garments sit alongside painting, collage and photography, while film, live music, poetry and spoken word extend the exhibition beyond the gallery walls.

At its heart, Full Circle is about creative ownership: artists building their own visual languages, experimenting without rules and deciding for

themselves how their work should be made, presented and experienced.

The project culminates in a one-off fashion show on Thursday 8 October. Original garments and reconstructed looks will move through the House of Annetta, accompanied by live sound and spoken word performances from the wider creative community. Part exhibition, part happening and part celebration, the event brings the energy of the workshop, studio and street into one shared space.

Hosted in a historic building just off Brick Lane, House of Annetta, Full Circle belongs to a long tradition of culture made collectively and outside conventional art-world structures. It is rough-edged, personal and alive: work shaped by the people who made it, rather than by a curatorial demand for polish or explanation.
