Campaigners are encouraging the government to introduce a 'help-to-rent' scheme amidst growing rent prices in London.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has teamed up with Crisis after a RICS survey found that many homeless and vulnerable people cannot afford to rent private accommodation.

The Wharf reported that 29 per cent of the survey respondents cited housing benefit caps as a key reason for this.

The pressure from RICS comes as part of their wider anti-homelessness campaign 'A Home for Cathy', launched last year to mark the 50th anniversary of Cathy Come Home.
